You Could Win High-Speed Internet from Charter Communications For Life
03.06.08 (10:12 pm)   [edit]

This contest is much like a auction. How much is a lifetime of high speed internet worth to you? The highest bidder will win the highest charter-high speed service on the market for life! After you bid, you will have access to a page that will list the top 10 highest bidders. No payment is required unless you win the bid. The winning bidder will be contacted on or before April 2nd, 2008 by phone and email. Once notified, you must make the full payment within 48 hours. You can read the official contest rules here.

Before you bid you should check to see if your in Charter.com's coverage zone. Charter covers 29 US state's so most likely you are in their coverage zone, but its good to just check anyway. You don't want to bid on a lifetime of internet you can't use in your current location. Just go check, if your one of the lucky ones in their coverage area then bid and save a ton of money on the cost of internet.

Also there is a lot of talk about taxing the internet by powerful politicians like Newt Gingrich and others. This will most certainly increase our internet bills. If I had the money I would even go so far as to bid how much my current cost of internet would be for the next 50 years if it remained at the current cost.

How to register for a chance to win a Nintendo Wii

Also, you can register to win a Nintendo Wii through Charter.com and their lifetime of high speed internet contest page. Click Here for a Chance to Win a Nintendo® Wii™!

There's no cost to register, all you have to do is provide them with your contact information and you will be entered into the sweepstakes.

Whomever wins will receive a Nintendo Wii Console, a Wii stand, 5 games, 1 Sensor Bar, 1 Wii AC Adapter, 1 Wii AV Cable, 1 remote controller, 1 Nunchuk controller, which is everything you need to play your Nintendo Wii as soon as you get it.

I just saw that the high speed for life auction finished with a winning bid over $71,000. Are people really this foolish? I thought about bidding, but wouldn't have gone over 2 or 3 thousand. Here's why......First, assuming a $720 annual internet bill ($60 per month), You could conceivably deposit a big enough sum of money into a CD or T-Bill or annuity, or some other conservative investment and let your money grow with inflation and still pull off say 3% a year to pay your cable bill. That figure would conservatively be ~$22,000. Far less than the highest bidder......But you have to discount that number for a number of reasons...1) What if you move or die. 2) What happens if Charter goes belly up (check out their balance sheet and you'll see why I raise this point) and most importantly, 3) How much would you have bid for unlimited long distance calling for life back in say 1985? My guess is much more than the $20 or so a month that you can buy it for today..........Fools and their money.
