How to go to School and Work at the Same Time
03.16.08 (11:50 pm)   [edit]

Co-Op education is where you go to school part of the year and work the other part of the year to get hands on work experience. Businesses prefer students who come out of Co-Op programs for many reasons, one reason is that they have relevant work experience in the industry. Plus they know their not just partying all summer, or working some irrelevant part time job.

Kettering University is known as having the best engineering co-op programs in the world. They were ranked the #1 university in the nation for industrial and manufacturing engineering by US News and World Report. They place students in companies beginning their freshman year. Students do get paid for working, and paid well. Every 3 months you will rotate between school and your job to get relevant work experience. You can learn more about their co-op video by watching the video here.

Now that you've seen what the students think about the co-op program, its time to see what the teachers think about it. Ive included a video I found on Kettering University's website were teachers discuss their views of the co-op program. Im having a bit of trouble posting it so here's the link to the video of what the professors think of the co-op program.
