How to Increase the Performance of Windows XP
05.30.08 (2:23 am)   [edit]

Don't get mad at the PC, fix it. Fixing a slow PC can be easier than you think. There are a few ways that you can easily and effectively increasing the performance of Windows XP.

The easiest way to increase the performance of a Windows machine is to use software like Macecraft's Software that will clean up all the mess that gets left behind from installing/uninstalling programs. When you install and uninstall additional software it leaves things in your registry and hard drive and this cycle goes on to eventually lead to a laggy PC.

Another way to increase the performance of Windows XP and 2000 is by using the built in Windows setting available to increase performance. You might think it gets complicated from here but really it doesn't. Just follow these steps:

  1. Left click on your Start Menu
  2. Right click on My Computer
  3. Left click on "Properties" in the drop down menu
  4. Left click on the "Advanced" tab
  5. Under Performance left click on the "Settings" button
  6. To maximize computer performance, left click on "Adjust for best performance"
  7. Windows performance settings
  8. If you would rather choose what is on or off, uncheck the items you wish to disable
  9. When you are done, left click on "Apply"
  10. Left click on "Ok"
