Wimbledon Tennis Tournament Tickets
06.18.08 (11:00 pm)   [edit]

The Wimbledon Championships is the oldest major tournament in Tennis history. The Wimbledon is considered to be the most prestigious tennis tournament in the world. People come from all over the world to compete.

Most people purchase Wimbledon tickets online. This is because there is an overnight queue. People who plan to just show up and get in are advised to bring along a tent and a sleeping bag or blow up mattress. This also means you will miss the first quarter of the tournament.

An interesting fact about Wimbledon is that over 62,000 pounds of strawberries and 1,540 gallons of cream are served each and every year during the championships. This is because strawberries and cream is the traditional snack served at Wimbledon. Another interesting fact is that currently an American, Pete Sampras, holds the record for the most Gentlemen's Singles titles. This fact is interesting because in the US only tennis fans know about this tournament, but in the UK everyone knows about it. Every year for the past 60 years the BBC has broadcasted The Wimbledon Championship for the UK people. In the US it is also covered on ESPN, but it doesn't get nearly as many viewers as the BBC channel gets.
